Charity of the year: update on funds raised for Longfield

We were pleased to announce in January that Loxley decided this year to support Longfield as our designated Firm Charity of the Year for 2018.  All proceeds of any charitable events which we undertake throughout the course of 2018 will be donated to this extremely worthwhile cause.

We’ve been busy fundraising since then and are delighted to announce that so far we have raised over £2,500. This has been achieved from our office cake sales, dress-down days, our second-hand book stall and especially from our ‘Loxley to Loxley Static Cycle ride’.  This took place on 20-21 September and saw the team cycle the equivalent mileage from Loxley in Kingswood, Gloucestershire to Loxley, South Yorkshire and back again – a total of 339 miles.  In fact, we not only made the distance, we ‘carried on down the road’ and ‘virtually’ made it to Torquay – a total of 464 miles!  We would like to say a big thank you to those who pedalled and those who kindly sponsored us.

We will continue raising money for Longfield until the end of the year, when we will then make a decision on who we will support in 2019.

Longfield is a Gloucestershire-based charity which supports adults with life-limiting illness from diagnosis onwards, helping them to understand their illness, cope better with its impact on their lives and to live well.  They provide a hospice service and also provide support to families in grief management.
