Gas Appliances

On 1 April 2009 a new gas safety scheme will be introduced. The “Gas Safe Register” and “Gas Registration Scheme” will replace the CORGI scheme.

With effect from 1 April 2009 Landlords (both residential and commercial) and employers should check that anyone carrying out work on gas appliance is registered under the new Gas Safe Register. After 31 March 2009 CORGI registration will carry no statutory force. Where landlords or employers have a long term contract in place to carry out gas safety inspections and maintenance, they should check that the contractor is registered under the new scheme.
