Land transactions are currently taxed in the same manner under the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) format for properties in both England and Wales.
From 2018, Wales will have a separate land transaction tax (LTT) which will differ fundamentally from SDLT. Consultations are still underway with regards to the exact format of this but please note that conveyancing transactions in Wales from next year will therefore be treated under a different regime.
