Sporting Rights

Rural land comes with complex issues of ownership. With our sector expertise, we are extremely well-placed to help clients identify opportunities and avoid potential pitfalls.

Sporting rights can arise as part of a sale or purchase of a country estate or other rural land. They also frequently arise as a stand-alone issue, through the grant of shooting leases, fishing leases and other sporting rights. We are involved on a day-to-day basis in advising landowners and others on the sale, purchase, reservation and letting of sporting rights.

In addition, where disputes arise, our litigation team is experienced in advising on associated claims, such as crop damage, trespass, tenancy and licensing issues, and nuisance. We acted for the sporting rights owner in the High Court case of Fuller v. Kitzing (2016).
